Whitegoods Lighting lights up Olympics Headquarters

Approached by Lewis & Hickey; an architecturally led business established in 1894 and consequently sporting a fantastic heritage and excellent track record , Whitegoods were delighted to be asked to supply the lighting for One Churchill Place, the Headquarters of the 2012 Olympic Games. The two bodies responsible for delivering the London 2012 Olympics; The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) co-located to their new offices in Canary Wharf in January 2006.

One Churchill Place is a 156m tall skyscraper located in the Docklands area of Canary Wharf and is the seventh tallest office block in the United Kingdom.

Our brief was to provide an ambient environment where the luminaires would work harmoniously together, allowing a flow through the common areas of the offices. The areas we concentrated on were corridors, meeting and conference rooms and reception area.

The placement of our range of Linear luminaires in the reception area perfectly complements the main desk with the London 2012 logo highlighted behind it. The plaster-in squares work congruously with the Linears to provide some halogen accent in the reception walk ways.

The use of bezel and plaster-in luminaires allow the architect to take the same minimal visual impact throughout the different areas of the office.

Products used were:
100 range Linear plaster-in and bezel in reception area and corridors. 100 range Square plaster-in low voltage in the reception area. 150 range Square compact fluorescent in meeting and conference rooms.

Lewis & Hickey were delighted with the result and the added benefits of ease of maintenance.
